Junior Research Assistant
Job DescriptionPOSITION OBJECTIVEWorking under moderate supervision, the Research Assistant 1 will perform research work to investigate the role of liquid-liquid phase separation in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.
The research assistant will perform experiements ranging from cell culture models to protein expression/purification and biochemical/biophysical studies with purified proteins in vitro, supporting laboratory members and laboratory maintenance.
The research will help expand the knowledge on the molecular basis of neurodegenerative diseases.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform research work involving cell culture studies in established cell lines as well as biochemical experiments with purified proteins, plasmid purification, protein expression in E.
Coli and purification by chromatographic methods, maintain laboratory reagents including buffers and media.
Conduct analysis of samples.
(55%) Record results for a closely related series of experiments, and maintain records of experiments in appropriate laboratory notebook.
Prepare charts and slides from experimental data for purposes of reporting.
(35%) Order reagents and other laboratory supplies.
Maintain test equipment utilized in experiments.
