Pre-collections Patient Account Representative

The Pre-Collect CHMCA Patient Account Representative notifies customers of outstanding balances and attempts to secure payment according to client guidelines.
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm $11.00-$13.00 hour
Job Responsibilities/Functions:
o Ability to handle inbound and outbound customer calls as well as special projects
o Provide the reason for the outstanding debt to customers and offer approved payment options and calculate appropriate payment plans
o Process payments over the phone via check by phone, credit card, hard copy or payment database
o Verify Medicaid eligibility as directed by the client
o Determine eligibility of Free Care for hospital charity programs and send out appropriate paperwork
o Document all appropriate and accurate information from phone conversations in computer system
o Provide professional and concise information to the client via the phone, email and client systems
o Email/Transfer insurance information given by the patient to the correct client biller
o Provide professional and accurate information to guarantors via the phone
o Keep all client directives & training material sent in email, passed out, included in manuals and received in meetings accessible and organized.
o Meet or exceed individual or group goals on a monthly basis

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
o Strong computer knowledge
o Advanced typing skills - minimum 30 words/minute
o Strong verbal and written skills
o Strong customer service background
o Strong negotiation and problem solving skills
o Familiar with HIPAA and FDCPA laws
o Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to the client and or debtors
o Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines
o Ability to consistently demonstrate high level of professionalism and courtesy
o Flexibility in work assignments; based on business needs
o Ability to work well in a team environment
o Bilingual a plus
o Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance plans
o Familiarity with AS400, HDX, SMS, HBO, FACS database systems
o Self motivated and goal oriented

Essential Education, Training, and Work
Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required. Previous work experience in a customer service
environment.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
